The Porsche 911 GT3 (997.2) Cup Rally is based on the fifth-generation Porsche 911, known internally as the 997. tt belongs to the 997.2 generation, since this version is after the facelift that the 997 had. It features significant modifications that have enabled it to compete very competitively in the CERA (Campeonato de EspaƱa de Rally de Asfalto).
These modifications are based on the GT-Rally homologation issued by the RFEDA (Real FederaciĆ³n EspaƱola de Automovilismo). Thanks to this homologation, specifically created to allow the participation of vehicles not homologated by the FIA for competition, these vehicles can participate in competitions held on stages and circuits in Spain.
The Porsche 911 (997.2) GT3 Cup Rally is powered by the original engine of the 997 generation, the naturally aspirated flat-six 3.8-liter engine (bigger than the 997.1 which mount a 3.6 liter engine) that develops 450 hp in the original GT3 road version.
The great power of the Porsche 911 GT3 (997.2) Cup Rally 2010, added to the contained weight of 1,280 kg empty, including all the mandatory safety systems due to RFEDA homologation, made this vehicle a great contender for class victories and even absolute. This is demonstrated by the statistics of the CERA championship.
