About this car
Discover the history
The 2015 Ferrari F12tdf is a high-performance grand tourer designed to pay homage to Ferrari’s dominance in the Tour de France road race during the 1950s and 1960s. Based on the F12berlinetta, the F12tdf stands out as an enhanced version that pushes the boundaries of speed, handling, and aerodynamics.
Ferrari engineers focused on improving the vehicle’s agility and stability to create a car that excels both on the road and track. One of the most notable innovations was the introduction of the Virtual Short Wheelbase system, which provides active rear-wheel steering to enhance responsiveness during high-speed cornering. This, combined with the increase in front tire width and a larger front axle, improves lateral acceleration while maintaining stability and control. The car also benefits from a significant weight reduction, with extensive use of carbon fiber in various components and lighter materials for the windows and interior. The F12tdf is 110 kg lighter than its predecessor, the F12berlinetta.
Under the hood, the F12tdf is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine capable of producing 780 CV at 8,500 rpm. With a top speed exceeding 340 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.9 seconds, the F12tdf is one of Ferrari’s fastest road cars. The engine delivers 705 Nm of torque, providing explosive acceleration and a thrilling driving experience, while the dual-clutch, seven-speed transmission ensures rapid gear changes. Ferrari’s advanced electronic systems, including ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and F1-Trac, work seamlessly with the car’s aerodynamics to provide an engaging yet controlled driving experience.
Aerodynamic efficiency was another focal point in the F12tdf’s design. It features a more aggressive bodywork, including a larger front splitter, rear diffuser, and active aerodynamics that optimize downforce while reducing drag. These innovations contribute to an increase in downforce by 87% over the standard F12berlinetta, making the car exceptionally stable at high speeds.
The F12tdf is a limited-edition model, with only 799 units produced. Each car represents a blend of Ferrari’s racing heritage and cutting-edge technology, aimed at both collectors and driving enthusiasts. The model’s name, “tdf” (Tour de France), highlights its connection to Ferrari’s past racing successes and its capabilities on long, high-speed journeys.
This car was built not just as a grand tourer, but as a testament to Ferrari’s engineering prowess, embodying both luxury and race-ready performance. The F12tdf is a stunning example of Ferrari’s dedication to pushing the limits of design, speed, and driver engagement.
