The Lotus Exige Cup 260 GT-R is based on the second-generation Lotus Exige S 260 and features significant modifications that enable it to compete very competitively in the CERA (Campeonato de EspaƱa de Rally de Asfalto).
Its modifications are based on the GT-Rally homologation issued by the RFEDA (Real FederaciĆ³n EspaƱola de Automovilismo). Thanks to this homologation, specifically created to allow the participation of vehicles not homologated by the FIA for competition, these vehicles can race in competitions held on stages and circuits in Spain.
The Lotus Exige Cup 260 GT-R is powered by the original 1.8-liter Toyota engine from the Exige Series 2, an inline four-cylinder engine featuring Yamaha’s VVTL-i (Variable Valve Timing with light intelligence) technology. It maintains the 260 hp from the standard Exige S 260.
Like its road counterpart, the Exige Cup 260 GT-R benefits from weight savings, which were standard at 914 kg, albeit with limitations, as it incorporates the mandatory protection systems required by the RFEDA to protect its driver and co-driver.
The excellent handling, typical of the cars of this british brand, has allowed the drivers who have raced it to achieve some category victories and even some overall winnings.
