The Renault Clio N5 is a competition vehicle homologated under the RFEDA (Real Federación Española de Automovilismo) Group N5 regulations. All these cars share the same mechanics, with differences primarily in chassis, bodywork, and aerodynamic appendages. The popularity of this regulation began in the mid-2010s, as Group N5 cars are cheaper, though slightly less powerful, than FIA Rally5 cars. Consequently, many teams, especially in southern Europe, have opted for these cars, which are homologated for both asphalt and gravel rallies.
The Renault Clio N5, manufactured by RMC Motorsport in Spain, is based on the same mechanics as all Group N5 cars. It features a 1.6-liter turbocharged PSA engine with 16 valves, producing 310 HP and 460 Nm of torque, coupled with a six-speed sequential gearbox from Lithuanian manufacturer Samsonas.
Handling is enhanced by McPherson-type suspensions from three different manufacturers and AP Racing brakes—355 mm for asphalt and 305 mm for gravel.
The vehicle also includes all mandatory safety systems due to RFEDA homologation, making these vehicles strong contenders for class and even overall victories. Thanks to their mechanics, performance, and low cost, N5 cars are filling the entry lists of various regional and national championships in southern Europe.
