The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Rally 996 is based on the fourth-generation Porsche 911, known as the 996, and features significant modifications that have allow it to race very competitively in the CERA (Campeonato de España de Rally de Asfalto). These modifications are based on the GT-Rally homologation issued by the RFEDA (Real Federación Española de Automovilismo). This homologation, specifically created to allow the participation of vehicles not homologated by the FIA for competition, enables these vehicles to participate in competitions held on stages and circuits in Spain.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Rally 996 is powered by the original engine of the 996 generation, the naturally aspirated flat-six that develops 360 hp in the original GT3 road version. The high power of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Rally 996, combined with its lightweight of 1,170 kg in empty condition, including all mandatory safety systems due to the RFEDA homologation, made this vehicle a strong contender for class victories and even overall victories, as demonstrated by the statistics of the CERA championship.
